Throughout the two-week program, the college organized a series of engaging academic activities for the Coventry University delegation. Two student academic project sessions served as a platform for dynamic exchanges between Chinese and British students, who enthusiastically discussed their research projects, COIL initiatives, and innovation and entrepreneurship programs, sharing creative ideas and practical insights. The delegation also attended thesis defense sessions and regular research group meetings, gaining firsthand insight into the rigorous academic training at our university. During lab visits, they explored advanced teaching and research facilities through guided tours and detailed explanations, appreciating the charm of cutting-edge research outcomes. Additionally, a lecture by Ji Lin of Coventry University introduced the structure and standards of master’s thesis projects at her institution, comparing the organization and supervision models of postgraduate programs in China and the UK, thereby offering an international academic perspective.

Beyond the academic focus, the college also arranged a variety of cultural and interactive activities. Coinciding with the Dragon Boat Festival, a specially designed cultural workshop allowed the delegation to experience the unique charm of traditional Chinese culture. Through informative introductions, interactive experiences, and hands-on activities, the international guests immersed themselves in the depth of Chinese heritage. Other activities, such as cultural exchanges between Chinese and international students, campus tours, and sports events, further strengthened bonds between the two student communities. The delegation also participated in the High-Quality Development Conference celebrating the 20th anniversary of School of Urban Railway Transportation, witnessing a significant milestone in the college’s growth. Visits to Shanghai Shentong Metro, the Shanghai Metro Museum, Guangfulin Archaeological Park, Yu Garden, and Disneyland enabled them to appreciate Shanghai’s urban landscape while gaining a deeper understanding of the city’s history and culture.

In just two short weeks, the Coventry University delegation not only gained a profound appreciation for the richness of Chinese culture but also experienced our university’s vibrant international atmosphere and rigorous academic ethos. This short-term exchange program has effectively broadened the global perspectives of students from both institutions, enhanced mutual understanding and friendship, and laid a solid foundation for future in-depth collaboration in academic research and talent development. We look forward to both universities advancing hand in hand and writing more remarkable chapters of cooperation in the years to come.
