On the afternoon of March 19, School of Urban Railway Transportation at Shanghai University of Engineering Science held an exchange seminar with Shanghai Shentong Metro Group Co., Ltd. in Conference Room 8A521 of the Modern Transportation Engineering Center. The meeting was chaired by Liu Zhigang, Dean of School of Urban Railway Transportation.

Wan Huilin, Party Secretary of School of Urban Railway Transportation, extended a warm welcome to the delegation from Shanghai Shentong Metro Group Co., Ltd. She pointed out that the current employment situation for university graduates is challenging, with increasing pressure on students to secure jobs. She expressed hope that Shentong Metro would provide more support to the college in areas such as internships and practical training, job matching, and professional skills development. The goal is to jointly build a platform for student employment practice, helping students enhance their core competitiveness and achieve high-quality employment.

Liu Zhigang, Dean of School of Urban Railway Transportation, emphasized that in line with government requirements for the development of application-oriented engineering universities, the college is comprehensively advancing education and teaching reforms. Currently, in collaboration with the Shentong Metro Academy, the college is working to launch a micro-degree program in power supply technology, actively exploring interdisciplinary integration to bridge the gap between traditional academic programs and enterprise job requirements. Additionally, the college is implementing professional qualification certification assessments and plans to expand certification options in key fields such as communication & signaling and power supply, providing students with more qualifications to enhance their employment prospects.

Zhang Yu, Vice President of Shanghai Shentong Metro Group Co., Ltd., and Deputy Party Secretary and General Manager of Shanghai Metro Maintenance Support Co., Ltd., discussed the Research Project on the Assessment System for Signal System Facilities and Equipment in Ultra-Large-Scale Rail Transit. This project involves evaluating the performance and maintenance status of Shanghai Metro's signal system facilities and equipment, conducting scientific assessments of these assets, and formulating efficient and reasonable strategies for maintenance adjustments, technical improvements, and overhauls. Regarding student employment, he noted that the development of micro-degree programs could enable the sharing of teaching resources and equipment between the university and enterprises, helping students master core job skills in advance and shortening the training cycle for enterprises.

This seminar further clarified the direction and pathways for university-enterprise collaboration. Both parties unanimously agreed to deepen and broaden their cooperation, jointly promote and enhance talent cultivation in rail transit, and contribute more significantly to serving enterprise development and the growth of the local industrial economy.
